What words meant "beyond cool" when you were a kid?

A discussion on MyLot led to this post. I may have asked about this before, but it's on my mind this morning, so I'll post about it. When you were young, did you have "slang" works for "beyond cool" or "most excellent"? When I was six or seven, in the 1960s, a really good episode of "Lost in Space" would be described as "boss!" or even "doom!" When I was a teenager, we might say "rad!" as in "That concert was rad!" When I started working with kids, I heard words like "fresh" and, more recently, "dope." One eleven-year-old kid I worked with got in trouble at school for using the word "dope" (dope CAN mean drugs), but I think his teacher (a fellow male!) overreacted. Did you have certain words in your life that meant, or mean, "way cool" or "beyond cool"?

I think "cool" is timeless.

Can't say as I did. Things were either cool or not cool. There was no beyond. Some things were groovy, though.

Groovy? Are you one of those old hippy types? Heh. I remember groovy. But that was more for teen and college students in the '60s, I think.

Totally, for sure, and Bomb Diggity were my generations "cool" words. Oh, and of course "The Bomb!"

@TheHorse "da bomb" is really what we would say, but I think replacing "the" with "da" has been done for years.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I think so too. I like teaching the littlies I work with the "old terms." So I sometimes use "boss" or "doom" around them to see if they'll repeat it.

We said both "da bob" and "da fire." I think that would have been during my teenage years.

Yes, but not in English, as I spoke Italian with my friends.

@TheHorse No, there is not a translation that would have a meaning. We used to say "figo" for something super cool that means nothing not even in Italian.

Is it possible to translate them. I try to figure out how our "cool" woeds came to be.

I think "far out" was a bit before my time, but I do remember it.

I remember Leet and Hella, though I guess those were more on the internet than in day to day conversation. both were pretty stupid in my opinion. Others were Sweet, Mega, Major, and Da Bomb. I just called things Cool

Popular dialogs always come up when we were kids. There are still many words we can make at any age, just like "graze yourself."
