How Did You Spend Your New Year's Day?

What did you do today for your New Year's Day entertainment? Did you watch the Rose Bowl Parade? I caught a bit of it but was back and forth fixing breakfast/brunch and also feeding the critters outside. I always like to admire the creativity of all those floats decorated with roses. One float, and I don't remember which one, had a certain shade of blue that required them to have to dye roses 8 different times to get the right shade of blue. That's pretty amazing and shows the planning preparation that goes into decorating these floats. Did you watch football today? I had the Citrus Bowl on for awhile with Alabama and Michigan playing. Alabama was behind at the half. I've been watching this game with interest. It seemed that Alabama was not playing to their potential (at least in the first half and that reminded me of the game between Alabama and LSU. LSU won that game. Alabama did turn it all around in the second half and won the game. I ended up outside for a couple of hours taking the fallen tree apart and hauling limbs to the burn pile. I ended up with a pretty nice size bonfire. It starts raining tonight and all day tomorrow so I'll have a new batch of limbs and sticks to pick up later. Oh the fun and work of this yard. I did enjoy the fresh air today and the temperature was in the high 50's, so not bad at all. I forgot to send this discussion earlier so just revised it and sending now! @crazyhorseladycx That sounds like a good rule to follow with the winds! That's one of the things that annoys me-- all the stuff the man leaves out and laying around (both inside and outside).

I never watch sport and I do not believe there were matches played in Europe on the first day of the year, I stayed at home and relaxed. Never do anything exhausting or boring the first day of the year, or you will do the same during all the year long (old Italian superstition).

We always have a nice and lazy day on New Years. I've heard that saying for what you are doing at midnight is what you will be doing for the rest of the year.

@kareng We also have that superstition, so we do nothing annoying or too heavy the first day of the year.

I ate my meals and worked on the computer. I did not see any of the games due to my busy work schedule.

Oh no! I watched the AL game and some of the FL game. Some of the others I just tuned in to see scores. BCS game is coming up next Monday night. I remember the last one we (LSU) played in was also on weeknight and we were all dragging the next day at work.

I didn’t catch the parade or the Citrus Bowl due to being at Disney World, but there were about ten thousand Alabama and Michigan fans all over Disney, given its proximity to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

Yes, it was a bit unusual. It actually got warmer over night by a few degrees.
