January 2nd is the day to celebrate all things science fiction. Let's give a thumbs up to the creative minds behind those scientific movies about space, time travel, and technological events which changed society. Recognized annually on this day, millions of science fiction fans across the United States read and watch their favorites in science fiction. I already got a head start on my science fiction watching, tuning in to view the Twilight Zone 24 Hour Marathon on New Year's Eve. I might even do some channel surfing for a Star-Trek Movie or a TV Episode showcasing my favorite Captain, James Tiberius Kirk. So, what are some of your favorite Science Fiction movies or popular TV series you've enjoyed over the years? As Fox Mulder from X-Files fame would say, "I Want To Believe." For movies, the original The Day the Earth Stood Still. I love Rocky Horror, too, if that counts. I was always a fan of The Time Tunnel and The Immortal (the latter was a crush on Christopher George, thank you).

@dgobucks226 — to that end, I thought Quantum Leap was a great way of updating the idea and giving it a great new twist.

You do the time warp while watching some Michael Rennie action? Somebody wanted a ride with the Rat Patrol.

The Time Tunnel was a favorite of mine too. I also liked the Time Machine Movie (1960) with Rod Taylor. Something about time travel I find fascinating maybe because of it's potential?

@dgobucks226 I remember "After Hours". It doesn't scare me now; but it scared me when it first aired. It's the one where the mannequins come to life and can go out for a period of time each year among humans.

@LindaOHio Good pick! I liked that one too. It featured actress Ann Francis who starred in the TV series Honey West. She was the first actress with a female detective's name in the title. She also was in another Twilight Zone episode called Jess-Belle

Yes an intriguing series for sure. That show really made you think. The shows creator and writer, Rod Sterling, was a master of creating a show that caused you to re-examine reality, consider the impossible, and wonder if something like that could ever happen to you?

Ah yes, Submitted for your approval" a little trip to "The Fifth Dimension." And these classic lines from The Outer Limits: There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission.

Real life is often stranger sci-fi than fictional sci-fi!

@dgobucks226 Twilight Zone brings back old memories. I was waiting for Star Trek. How about Star Wars too?

Sorry to burst the bubble. Star Wars is fantasy, not sci-fi.

Yes, the imagination behind that show was amazing. Combining drama, intense plots, mystery and some humor into a tremendous series. Also great characters!
