Back in the 90's, Latino telenovelas are exported in Asia but If you go to Latin countries now it's the Asian dramas getting aired in latin countries now while Asian countries stopped airing Latin dramas. Filipinos used to be crazy about Latin dramas that they had been using Latin cliches on their plots but Filipinos lost interest with Latin shows around 2004. I was in Ecuador days ago and I had seen people watching Filipino dramas. I recognized one actress who plays a granny role. It seemed like Latinos likes Filipinos more than Koreans and Americans due to cultural similarities and usage of mixed race actors who can pass as Latino. But Yeah Filipino,Korean and Thai dramas are hit in Latin America now.

Oh wow that's nice the our Filipino series are being aired there already. Back here, Filipinos are getting crazier with Korean thing right now. The Korean Restos are becoming very popular in here, beauty products and many more they have overtaken the Japanese and Chinese before. It seems even the music is so popular in here that their band are very much welcome in here despite the language barrier. I even know some Filipinos are learning to speak Korean already.

I think Filipinos gave up on Latinos because Latino dramas are way too similar to Filipino dramas when it comes to plot and length. Also the kissing scenes in latino dramas are too extreme for Filipinos and they dont like the dating cousins characters which is common in latino dramas. Koreans are more subtle when it comes to kissing and the plots are less problematic. I think the Latino's recent obsession with Filipinos started with the Pageant winning streak which is another thing Latinos are crazy about. Imagine a GMA and ABS CBN drama aired on the same tv station.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I see Latinos are mostly westernized already when it comes to being sensual. I find Koreans a bit conservative when it comes to sensuality more conservative than we Filipinos that are mostly westernized already. I noticed that too that the Latino drama series have stopped in here already. Although I am not a fan of both since I am not a followe rof such shows myself.

@rsa101 ANime declined in the Philippines due to many incest plots that is hard to censor. Also Anime is recently using a lot of LGBT plots these days making it hard to market for conservative Filipinos. Japan needs to stop their obsession with incest to make Anime global again.

The advantage of Filipinos is we can both be Asian and Latino. We are Latino Asians we can appreciate all kinds of " telenovelas " we can also mimic and copy any of them

@CaptAlbertWhisker lol, in a way we admire Spanish culture and beauty probably because of our past. I don't know if you still remember " Marimar" and " Maria Mercedes" people went gaga over them especially when they visited Manila. Glad to hear that they get to appreciate our talents now. I'm one of those who do not like Filipino dramas much because the plot is too predictable, makes me feel dumbmy mother and my wife are fans.

@louievill The predictable plots and psychopathic murderous mistresses and ex-girlfriends came from them and Filipinos just made them 10 x more evil with goons and all. I think that's why Latinos like Filipino dramas. We use their cliches but make it crazier. " Marimar" and " Maria Mercedes" is the same actress. Most Latino actors though dont look like everyday Latinos since most Latinos are either Native American or Meztizos. They use Meztizos and European Immigrants instead. Then Philippines is kinda the same, Most actors are mixed. James Reid is not Filipino, He is an Aussie with Pinay step mom and half pinoy half siblings passing as Filipino.

@mrki444 Also maybe Croatians don't like the open mouth kissing Latin dramas have. Turkey being a muslim country means no open mouth kissing.
