That’s how dual countdowns work. Some days the two songs will compliment each other, and some days they’re total opposites. This is sort of a complimentary song with “love” in the title, making up for the relatively obscure country song posted first. I mean, everybody knows this one!
Bye Bye Love - Everly Brothers
I’ve mentioned before that the early days of rock and roll were “confusing,” especially in the world of what was called “rockabilly.” As a result, you had people like Elvis and Johnny Cash who were having hits on the country and rock charts.
Add to that the pride of Central City, Kentucky, Phil and Don Everly. While there was a definite rock and roll component to their music, their Louvin Brothers-influenced harmonies made country music fans happy.
As a result, the Everly Brothers are in both the Rock and Country halls of fame.
Enjoy this exceptional classic one more time. Or 50 more times.
Bye Bye Love
Written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant
Recorded by the Everly Brothers
Released as a single, 1957
I’m through with romance:

This pick was so obvious that Stevie and Ray saw it coming.
