1910 - The first public radio broadcast takes place from the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
1942 - Henry Ford patents a plastic car which is 30% lighter than a regular car.
1961 - Julia Louis-Dreyfus was born. She is an American actress, comedian, producer and singer. She first was recognized for her work on Saturday Night Live (1982-1985) and then Seinfeld (1989-1998), The New Adventures of Old Christine (2006-2010) and Veep (2012-2019). She has won 11 Emmys (8 acting and 3 producing) out of 24 nominations, 1 Golden Globe, 9 Screen Actors Guild Awards, 5 American Comedy Awards and 2 Critics' Choice Television Awards, among other acknowledgements of her acting.
1966 - Patrick Dempsey was born. He is an American actor and race car driver. He is best known for his role as Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy. He retired the character after 11 seasons. Some of the movies he's been in: Can't Buy Me Love, Loverboy, Outbreak, Scream 3, Sweet Home Alabama, Made of Honor, Freedom Writers, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Bridget Jones's Baby.
