Are we seriously going to start this year like last year!?!?

Late January last year, my dad got extremely ill. He was frustrating and stressing the crap out of me with his "I will see how I go tomorrow." or "I want to wait til my doctor is available." Bull crap! His big toe went all black and if he left this "I will wait" bull crap going for 3 more days, he would have died due to blood poisoning.
It led him to hospital to have that big toe removed and he was in hospital for 6 weeks I believe it was. He felt bad for making me cry and stressing me out and he said that if he noticed anything going black again, he would go straight to see someone. He had more surgery, actually quite a bit of surgery on that foot. He nearly lost it.
Well we have a LITTLE bit of improvement but not good enough! My dad is away for work ( he does it every now and then to work in different areas ) he is about 3 hours away from our house. He rang me and said he will have to come back home earlier due to a toe going black at the top. He wanted me to ring the surgeons office to see if he can get an appointment tomorrow. I ring them and the surgeon has no appointments any time soon and was suggested that my dad goes straight to the ER. I rang dad to explain that but then he started doing his whole "I want to do this my way and see him because he has been looking after my foot" bull sh*t! He wanted me to call the office again to ask if that surgeon will be around if my dad goes to hospital to which no, he wouldn't be around. I ring dad again and dad is considering whether to go to the ER or not like for goodness sakes! When I got off the phone to my dad I threw something hard at the kitchen cupboard out of anger like are we seriously going to do this stupid crap again?
So dad is coming home and I swear, I SWEAR I am NOT putting up with this stress again. He will friggen go to the hospital! And that's that! I get it, he has white coat syndrome whatever but far out! Stupid! Stupid stupid man sometimes! I'm so ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can never be friggen easy can it!?

Wow, I would have thought for sure he learned his lesson last time. But some people are stubborn that way. Just make sure you get him to the hospital or doctor as soon as possible when he gets home. Don't let him make excuses.

@moffittjc That is exactly what I was angrily mumbling to myself after we hung up the phone. I was so angry. He is a bit over an hour away from home so just trying to keep mind occupied here.

@VivaLaDani13 Bring him to the ER, if he goes immediately, they surely can take care of him. I hope he does not want to go through all the problems he had last year.

I guess that is diabetes that is ruining his toes. That needs a surgery before gangrene sets in.

@Alexandoy Yeah he has diabetes so it is because of that. And if it's going black then it means it's early stages of gangrene ( I think? ) so that is what's going on right now. I'm stressing. Still waiting for dad to come home.

@VivaLaDani13 maybe you have to force him to go to the hospital. Being stubborn can cost him his life.

He needs to understand that his actions don't just affect him but have a huge impact on you too. You have to get him to go the hospital a.s.a.p. if not for himself then for you. Guilt trip him if you have to but just make sure he goes.

@VivaLaDani13 sometimes it becomes impossible to stay away from things we don't like to do at all.

Totally understand your situation my dear.
It it totally not your fault and I can say not even your dad's
some people are like this. They keep pushing this off further. And trust me there is not even a valid excuse for that.
Your dad for once must put his weapons down and agree to you today.
My mother is like this, she will not even tell if there is pain. Imagine! we have to keep guessing if she is okay.
I am feeling sorry for all this because I know how stressful this is. It just drains you completely.

@Archie0 Thank you very kindly for your supportive and understanding comment. I really appreciate it.
I'm so sorry your mother does that to you! It can be quite stressful not knowing all the facts when trying to help our loved ones.
Thank you again.

You need to tell him that he will die if he doesn't go.

@Ladanger Sorry you know the feeling! White Coat Syndrome ( White coat hypertension ) is where someone is very uncomfortable being around doctors. My dad has his reasons but not sure if everyone who suffers with this is because of a bad experience like my dad or just have it for no reason. My dad always has high blood pressure when he goes to the doctors.
And I completely agree with you! I just want him to be fine. Still waiting for him to come home.

@Ladanger I'm not sure if it's a phobia actually. I mean because he still does go. But yeah not sure that is a good question though!

@VivaLaDani13 wow okay. It’s almost like a phobia to doctors.at least that is what it sounds like.
