Would Love a Fresh Tomato

One thing I miss about the summer, probably the only thing, is fresh tomatoes. My neighbor grows them and always shares his harvest. Very kind of him.
I have tried going tomatoes with no luck. He tells me not to bother, he always has plenty for many neighbors. He enjoys being out in the garden. He lost his wife over a year ago and is a little lost. Good when he can stay busy.
Do you miss anything from the summer? Fresh tomatoes are the best, right! This photo is one of those tomatoes I sliced and ate with a little salt and pepper.

While growing up back home, the men of the family always grew a huge garden. I can name almost any tomato. These days, if I get a tomato from the grocery store, just not the same and tastes yucky.

@CarolDM I do not miss, because now you have to buy all here... otherwise, I prefer tomato than cucumber

@CarolDM Yes, homemade ones are healthier, they smell better ... and they are bought as plastic and tasteless

I have to say for me it is the same, tomatoes aren't worth eating the rest of the year but in summer they are to die for.

That looks yummy! The only way I could get tomatoes to grow well was in one of those upside down containers. It was so easy, but I never had luck with pots and cages.
Anyway, I think the only thing I miss about summer is the pool being open in our community. I love taking the kids down to the pool and playing awhile. They love it, I love it, and it tires them out without dealing with the heat too much.

I miss the warmth (although this winter has been relatively warm) and definitely the longer days!
