Everybody Wins! (NOT!)

My kids are all out of school now and only one was into sports when she was in middle school. I have grand-kids in school but they don't have an interest in sports. So even though this does not directly impact me, I have something to say about it. It seems the new policy in child sports is: "Everyone Wins". This is so that the child won't get discouraged or disappointed when they lose! Uh huh. Sure! Why not teach the child that philosophy? That's how it works in real life, isn't it? It works that way in sports, at work, in marriage, etc. Everybody's a winner! That's a really stupid thing to tell a child! You need to tell the losing a game is not FATAL!! Life goes on.

I agree with you very strongly on this. Winning every time isn't going to prepare them for real life when they'll get knocked down again and again.

I agree. Winning is always better. Children have to learn not to be sore losers in sports or in life!

Those days when we were told that winning does not matter, you should play with right spirit. Now a day it is play to win. Loosers have no place.

I agree. Sports or life is all about sportsmanship and fighting spirit. Winning and loosing are part of the game.
