Unexpected and Uninvited.

So much for sleeping early. Just as my son is finishing his milk, the doorbell rings at 9:45 pm. My mother-in-law suddenly pops out of nowhere , she is not a ghost. She is with my sister-in-law, my SIL lives 2 blocks from us. No letting me know ahead that this will happen. Now, my head is throbbing and I cannot sleep yet because the kids are still playing with her. How do you deal with uninvited and unexpected guest

Oh no - the time sounds rather late for any visitors! I don't like surprise visits . . . but luckily it's rare that happens. The one time I didn't want someone to come in the house, I told them I was really sick (which was actually true) and they did not bother to come in .

@rakski Oh my gosh, really? I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this - especially with your headache!

I guess just pray she just doesn't make a habit of it, if it happens too often, I would ask my husband to speak to her.

Before the days of phones, all guests were uninvited. Mostly they were a welcome interruption. At least, they were to us on the farm as we could go for weeks without seeing anyone other than our own family.

oh yes, when I was young, we always have uninvited visitors. But they do not arrive at the doorstep at 10pm and they will not sleep in our house

I think you should tell her that she need to go home and back again tomorrow if she wants to play with your kids.

Oh, no! We get them all the time here in Florida. I tell my husband to tell them I'm taking a nap. They must think I'm one tired old bag!
