Ivar Returned to the Feeder

Ivar the red bellied woodpecker has been showing up every day lately at the deck bird feeder. He has been coming to the feeder a few years now. I assume it is the same one. If you watch the show, Vikings, you will understand the name Ivar (the Boneless). He sort of slides around to the feeder from the deck fence. Entertaining to watch him almost every day now. He runs off the blue jays, which are twice his size. And any other bird that shows up. He takes over the feeder. He likes the sunflower seeds. Photo ©CarolDM2020 All Rights Reserved With his long beak he pecks the seeds open. Funny to watch him. And I love his red markings. I snap photos from behind the patio door when I can.

@CarolDM What kind of antics does he get up to while chowing down?

It's nice to know the birds around that comes regularly. In our case, there are 5 yellow birds here that come every day in the big trees that are near our home. I just couldn't take their picture because they always hide in the leaves of the tree.

@CarolDM it's really amusing to observe the animals in our midst. There's a type of bird that eats the star fruit in our front yard. I had been seeing those birds every day since our tree has many fruits now.

Ivar is a very lovely bird. It's nice that he turns up each year. I'd be presuming he's the same one too.

I have started to see a variety of little finches coming to my feeder. They only stop for a short time, so are gone by the time I get my camera
