Softball Season is Right Around the Corner

I am signing my baby girl up for softball today. She just started pitching lessons today, as well. She has always played catcher and 2nd base, but since this is her senior year, she wants to spread her wings a little more and try something new. Her coach was impressed. I can't wait for the games to start up. This will be a bittersweet year. While I will treasure every moment, watching my girl play, I will be sad that this is her last year. While I am proud of the responsible, loving young lady she has become, I miss my little girl in pig tails. Parenthood is an adventurous journey, with all kinds of twists and turns, full of emotion and learning.

Yep, a friend of a friend said that, and I remember it to this day. Actually he said, "It's all about the moments."

@CarolDM But we can carry those moments forward. Kind of hard to explain what I'm trying to say.

I can understand. I play softball and work with kids. Sometimes I wish they could stay kids. But they become adults.

@gnatsmom You must be so proud of her. Can she start a baseball league after she graduates so she can continue to play baseball?

I assume she plays softball, which is slightly different. If she goes to college, she can play there. There are also women's (and co-ed) City League softball leagues here in the US. I've played on some co-ed teams over the years.

@Hannihar But that's only among the most "conservtive" Jews, isn't it? Many of my Israeli friends aren't even religious.

@TheHorse I believe I remember those. Here in the religious world things are separate between men and women. At a wedding for instance the men are separated from women.

She's a beautiful young woman; what a great photo! It's great that she is expanding her softball skills. My kids are adults with children of their own but I remember my emotional moments when they were preparing to leave my "nest"!

Sometimes I think I will never be prepared for her to leave. But then I see what an awesome young woman she has become. Her older 3 siblings are all married with kids and I miss them being home terribly. But to see how they love God and each other and what great parents they are, I stand proud.

They all just keep growing older, don't they?
