Another Snow Day....

Rupert, Idaho
January 17, 2020 4:02pm CST
Hello everyone, how are you all doing? It was not supposed to snow, that is what the forecast said last night. However, when I went to bed around 2 this morning, a bunch had fallen and it was STILL snowing. People in town said the roads weren't too bad, but it gets really bad out in the country. Especially because the winds were strong and blowing the snow everywhere. So, school was cancelled again. Second snow day of the school year and in this past week. Has the schools where you live been cancelled for a snow day yet this school year?

We haven't yet had snow, but we are hoping to get some soonish. The temps are dropping, but they need to drop a little more and stay steady. It's better to be safe than sorry, especially on those country roads.

@MommyOfEli2013 I used to live in the country. We had to get someone with a tractor to get us out of a ditch once. There are lots of hazards, especially as snow plows don't often go down country roads. Main roads, yes, but the dirty paths? nope, not so much.

That is good that you haven't had snow....we have had enough this winter. Well since you are hoping to get some soonish, hope you will get it. Yes, that is true...that is what people in town don't understand when they cancel school but it looks not too bad

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh yeah, I hear that about them not plowing those back/country roads. Which is unfortunate! Sorry that you dealt with that before and had to get help to get out of a ditch. We got stuck in town once trying to turn and a cop was there luckily and helped us out.

We received a blizzard warning for yesterday and today that never came, although the wind is strong and howling. School was cancelled today because of it. This makes the 4th snow day for teachers and kids for 2020.

@MommyOfEli2013 The wind is blowing whatever snow is on the ground already to form drifts. It's a dry, cold wind.

That's not too bad, to just have one day. We will....heading over to visit my grandma (who was in the hospital) in just a little bit.

When we used to live in Maryland there were snow days and kids got to stay home. I don't miss living in Maryland. I'm in Austin, Texas and have experienced one day when it snowed. Moved here in 1998.
