How to cure hiccups

There probably is a cure for the hiccups but some of those you hear about are really weird and some are downright dangerous - standing on your head whilst drinking a glass of water, or holding your breath for ages, or rubbing your head and patting your stomach at the same time (I can't do that when I don't have hiccups!). I don't get the hiccups very often but when I do I just ignore them and get on with things and they will eventually stop - suddenly I realise they have gone and I couldn't tell you when that happened!

Yes, hiccups will just go away as fast as it comes, when you ignore it.

I agree - ignoring them is the best course of action

I heard that eating a spoon of peanut butter would do it.

That's just a rumour spread by peanut butter makers!

Scary sometimes works. Or a cola.

One way to cure hiccups is to have someone scare you since the shock will get rid of the hiccups.

I just to ignore them, never found a 'cure' that seemed to work

If they last a long time, I hold my breath.

I'll bet none of those remedies actually work. Thankfully I seldom get the hiccups.

When I get hiccups my family tells me to drink water but I can't drink water at that time.

@ScotMac I am with you Bill. I do not get them often too and just let them pass when they are ready to do just that.
