Know your Water!

Just wanted to give some advice to a topic that I believe is often overlooked. Most people don’t realize the danger of exposure to water that contains certain types of toxic algae. This particular algae is Cyanobacteria, a blue-green algae, that produces a very powerful neurotoxin called BMAA. Theories suggest that this toxin is triggered more when environmental pollution is present . Regardless, BMAA has been shown to have a significant link to neuro degenerative diseases, primary ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) . The number of people who contract neuro degenerative diseases who have had exposure to BMAA is alarming and almost 100 times the national average of incident occurrence in a normal population . Feel free to do some research on studies of communities here in the United States and overseas who were exposed. Here lies the problem .....Cyanobacteria aka “pond scum” is very common and is prevalent on many bodies of water (lakes /ponds.) So it’s very important to question where your tap water or drinking water is derived from. Regulatory standards for drinking water only mandate that micro bacteria be killed . Most water treatment centers do not have the resources or technology to filter for heavy metals, much less BMAA . Hell most have probably never heard of it ! Dogs actually die quite often when drinking or swimming in a pond or lake when the algae is releasing BMAA. I would encourage you to do your own research and see the science behind this, realize that it’s not being reported on or thought about, and question yourself before you take that next swim in the lake or drink out of the tap.
