"The Shallows" is a survival thriller that was released in 2016. Reviews were generally positive; and the movie was a box office success with $119.1 million in box office receipts against a $17-25 million budget. The movie received 5th Place for the Golden Tomato Awards-Best Thriller Movie 2016, and nominations for the People's Choice Awards-Favorite Thriller Movie, Saturn Awards-Best Thriller Film; and Blake Lively was nominated for Choice Summer Movie Star: Female from the Teen Choice Awards. CAST Blake Lively - Nancy Adams Oscar Jaenada - El Questro Brett Cullen - Mr. Adams Sedona Legge - Chloe Adams Pablo Calva - Miguel Janelle Bailey - Mrs. Adams Sully Seagull - Sully "Steven" Seagull Nancy Adams is a college medical school student who is being driven to a Mexican beach for a vacation by Carlos, a local resident. The beach was a favorite spot of her mother's who recently passed away due to cancer. Her friend, Anna, did not come along because she wasn't feeling well. When she arrives, she gets into her surf gear. She joins two other surfers; and they surf together for several hours. Nancy then takes a break and video-chats with her sister and her father. Nancy then swims out past the shallows to catch some more waves. She spots a whale carcass and has a bad feeling about it. She starts to head back on a wave and is knocked off her board by a large great white shark. The shark bites her on the left leg. She tries to climb onto the whale carcass; but the shark hits it from underneath; so she is forced to swim to a nearby rock where the shark can't reach her. She sees the two other surfers; but they don't hear her or see her. The two surfers leave the beach; and Nancy must spend the night on the rock with a wounded seagull she names Steven. If you want to know what happens next, you must watch the movie. This is a movie with a lot of suspense, and all within 200 yards of the shore. Blake does a fine job of making the action seem real. This movie is definitely worth watching at least once. I give it my recommendation. This movie is rated PG-13. Photo Credit: Pixabay

That sounds like it would be an interesting movie. At first I thought I had seen it because the movie's title sounds familiar, but I do not think I have seen it.
