Pigs in our barangay and nearby area will be culled by the government. African Swine Flue was the one that killing our pigs not only hog cholera. According to my wife, our barangay chairman already send some notices that the government will cull all our pigs in the barangay. This is really a sad news since we have 11 piglets and my father have 7 fattenings pigs and 1 mother pig that will be included in the culling. I don't know if they will give us something in return but surely if there's something it will be just a little consolation...

Oh that is sad that they will do that. But for the safety of everyone it should be done to stop the spreading of that virus once and for all. I also hope that they will compensate you with something in exchange for that so that you can somehow recover from your loss.

@cacay1 Although to date we have not yet proven that the virus affecting the pigs have evolved to affect us humans. But if we do not stop this from spreading they will eventually evolve to infect people and when that happens another crisis will happen because humans are experiencing involved.

@simplfred You are correct, one brother of my mom grew pigs to make ham in Italy and it was a serious problem when this happened because he had 15,000 pigs.

Actually, the ASF from pig cannot be be transferred to human even from eating... It just it will affect all the pigs that are nearby that's why they are containing it.
