Embarrassment on Film

United States
January 23, 2020 7:17am CST
It felt awful being filmed, especially as the whole world was bearing witness to the awful people that I called my parents. Even my brother felt bad for me, though he couldn't do very much to stop the words that flew out of my mom's mouth at any given moment. The producer and host of the show looked as if he wanted to intervene several times but he never did. My heart stopped every time he started to say something, hoping that he actually would call them out on it, but then he'd think better of it and the show would go on. I actually had several dreams and remember the gist of all of them. However, I think I'll write about the one today.

Did your parents do something that made you depressed or unhappy? This seems something coming from the deep of yourself.

My mom was wonderful. I mean, she was like any other mother, a disciplinarian but also a good woman. My dad, however, scared me. I was terrified of him.

@ScribbledAdNauseum May be sometimes it comes from your subconscious and you would like to say something.

@ScribbledAdNauseum This is surely not a great relationship, I can understand you are not a lot attached to him.

It was so odd. I think the "reality tv" aspect of it was because I finished reading a book with that theme last week.

I can rely somewhere. My father had not an ounce of diplomacy and was always telling straightly what he was thinking to people, not by lack of education, but because it was his own life strategy. He embarrassed me more than once in my young years. Then I realized that we were slowly dying of being too much politically correct, and that he was perhaps right. At least most of the time.

Ah yes, I have known a few people who "tell it like it is" and without care for what others think. Sometimes we need those type of people in our lives.

A lot of my posts are about dreams. Well, atleast most of my posts now are. I always write "this was just a dream" at the end of it though.

@simone10 When I saw you I thought "Well that's someone I haven't seen around in awhile."

It seems you are fond of dreaming and you can remember all of them. How I wish I could dream about my parents.

I've almost always been able to remember my dreams, but when I was a preteen I was really into dreams and discovering what they meant. Way back then I read an article about how to remember your dreams upon waking. It requires you to be able to wake up slower, and to have it on your mind as soon as you wake up. I had three dreams and I can remember some of each, but not enough to really articulate them. As for dreaming about parents, I've found that if I look at a photo of my mom (she has passed away) or talk about her the day before, that night I will dream of her. The problem with that is some dreams are good, some are bad.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I see. Thank you for the info. I think I will try to use this method of watching the old photos of my parents. I would like to dream about them.

@thelme55 Good luck, just thinking about them throughout the day will help as well. You might also verbalize your intention, what I mean is, before bed say "I'd like to dream of my parents".

I'm always amazed at the stories the mind can make up as we sleep.

Yes, the mind is such a vast and brilliant thing. We don't give it enough credit in our waking lives.

All of the dreams I had last night were similar. In one of the others, I was swimming out with the man from this dream. He and I were rescuing women that had been abused and were seeking refuge in America.

@amitkokiladitya I am sure it's lots of factors. Sometimes it's because of things I've watched on television or things I've read. Other times it's just things that were on my mind the day before.
