Many people (my father was one) never got the hang of programming a VCR. Some did, some didn't there were two distinct camps.
Which one were you in?
flashing 12:00?
or when visiting someone's house, pointing out the flashing 12:00
Not that we were mean but, well yes or no?

@DocAndersen Oh YES! He is someone who reads and re-reads the manuals, I try until I succeed, I never real the manuals.

I just remember visiting a lot of houses, and they were all flashing 12.

I couldn't remember. Perhaps flashing.
It was the good old home viewing VCR days that meant family intact and watching Disney and action dramas like Air Force One over home cooked hotdogs and spaghetti, huh.

@DocAndersen I haven't gotten rid of my movie collection - VHS, VCD, DVD.
Yes, those viewing days were the fun-filled memories.

@eileenleyv we kept the laser disc (4 VHS tapes) and the DVDs but most of the VHS tapes are gone.

I knew how to program mine and most of the time it showed the correct time. But every time the power flickered the time would disappear. I got tired of changing it back so it flashed 12.

I never pointed it out for someone else. I knew how to operate and program a VCR. I miss VCR.
