what happened when i put the vegetables in the toaster?

whether you call it oven toaster or toaster oven, that's what i used here. not the small simple bread toaster with two knobs that only fits two slices of white bread lying side by side. but first i typed "roast vegetables in oven toaster" online then quickly read the first recipe that showed up. how i did it: 1. set the toaster timer to 10 minutes first. 2. while it's heating up, sliced the potatoes and carrots diagonally, the bell pepper thinly. 3. mixed it thoroughly with olive oil, salt, pepper in a wide bowl. 4. covered a low and wide loaf pan with aluminum foil and trimmed the edges. 5. spread the seasoned veggies evenly in the pan then put it in the toaster. but after 10 minutes, the carrots were still a little hard. our toaster's maximum temperature is only 240 celsius. 5. set it again to 10 minutes. 6. added garlic and onions. nanay (mother) loved how soft the potatoes were. i gave her all the onions, garlic and bell pepper also. i ate all the carrots because they were still not soft enough for her false teeth (dentures), a topic that i'll also post about later. what i'll do differently next time? try other vegetables. slice the harder vegetables more thinly or toast them first. slice the onions more thickly or in quarters. try adding herbs. what else do you use your toaster for? do you have any veggie suggestions?

The harder vegetables always take very long to cook. And it is always good to make them the thinnest

@amitkokiladitya yeah, because while it was "toasting" i was frying the marinated chicken and reheating the rice in the rice cooker.

Our toaster is used for the bread and for heating leftover dishes.

when we had our smaller/basic toaster, we would reheat fried/roasted/grilled food there

@Alexandoy in the toaster, you can hear the oil popping and it comes out crispy

@hereandthere when the leftover is roasted, it is not good to heat it in the microwave. The texture would be soggy.

I grew up with the regular toaster . . . but Hubby grew up with the toaster oven. So since we got this house, he got his wish for a toaster oven. And I mostly use it as a toaster . I will heat up bread type things in there or keep things heated in there after cooking, but I typically do not cook with it (for that I use the regular oven). I've roasted all kinds of vegetables . . . cauliflower, yams, broccoli, potatoes, onions, carrots, tomatoes, asparagus, zucchini, bell peppers, butternut squash, kabocha, acorn squash, green beans, oh and garlic!

@hereandthere Yes! Olive oil, himalayan salt (it's pink and less of "salty" tasting), and black pepper in most cases - sometimes minced fresh garlic with that. I have added other dry herbs on occasion. Oh and with yams, I do just olive oil and ginger powder.

I bake my vegetables in my toaster too. I use olive oil, pepper, dash of salt, garlic powder and thyme usually.

A toaster oven comes in very handy at times. I love roasted vegetables in oil oil, garlic, and some spices.

I don't roast my veggies in the toaster. Maybe, you can blance the carrots and other veggies to shorten the roasting time in the toaster.

We've used ours for all kinds of things. Love our toaster oven. It's nice to have during holidays while cooking.

i'm not used to using the big oven (unlike my sister and niece) so thankfully this experiment turned out well.

@hereandthere That is a very interesting use for the toaster oven. I toast bread to put tuna on. I toast cheese on bread. I cannot help you with veggie suggestions.
