The little guy was excited when he got a card in the mail that had $10 from his great Aunt L. The next day his dad and I took him to five Below (store) to pick out something he wanted. He spend like $5.30 so he got some change back that we put into his piggy bank when we got home.

@ShyBear88 That is so special and so great that he still has money left over to put in his piggy bank from the $10.

That is wonderful for him. I know I was always super excited when I got money even though I had no idea about the value.

Aw so cute. I remember the excitement of opening birthday and Christmas cards from my grandparents with money in them as a kid.

@ShyBear88 no one does that around here now. only my grandparents did, when we were all kids. my grandfather probably still would be, if he didn't die of cancer in 2010

I always get a kick out of how kids respond to money. Even a small amount seems like a great fortune to them. Smart he only spent a little over half and was able to sock away the rest for another day.

That’s why we took him to 5 below most everything is below $5 dollars some things are up to $10 but we try to teach the kids spend half out the rest away for a rainy day.

@ShyBear88 That is a good thing to teach children. If they know the value of money and the value of saving early on, it could carry on into their adult life, and they will be much better off for it as a result.
