I like when books talk about homosexuality

Let me clarify, I like historical fiction books that center around the struggles a man or woman may have had in the past. The book I am reading now, Towards The Midnight Sun by Eoin Dempsey has a man who is gay. The difference between this novel and other novels with homosexuality in it is that we didn't know that the character was gay until nearly half the book was gone. We didn't hear of his own struggle until atleast a chapter or two after that. Homosexuality has been taboo for so long, that we don't honestly think of how our ancestors may have struggled with who they were and who they were supposed to be to the world. Even though it's more widely accepted and understood now, the LGBTQ community is still looked down upon. Sure there are more commercials, mroe shows, and more movies with same gender couples, but it's few and far between. Anyway, I'm heterosexual, but I admire the struggle and persistence that same gender couples have had to go through. Rant Over, I guess? I really have no questions.. I mean, what am I supposed to ask? Are you homophobic? Of course i'm not gonna ask that.. How about.. Have you known any homophobics? Now lets see if this discussion will post without me having to edit things.

In high school I had a friend that was gay and he had to keep it a secret. We went everywhere together. Finally he met and married a women and when he could not live that way he got a divorce. They had one child together and split the week between the two of them. He has been with another guy for over forty years and is very happy. Happiness between two people is all that matters in the end.

That topic is still taboo here. I knew a woman who was gay. He has three children and a husband.

Yes, there are plenty of those that just hate for the sake of hating, don't matter who they are or what they believe.

I've known a few that don't like it, but I wouldn't classify them as homophobics. Then I've known one or two just flat out extreme homophobics. The bible thumping type.

There's always some out there, aren't there? Even people in my own family (are homophobic), and I just don't understand that. My great uncle was bisexual, one of my step cousin's is a lesbian. One of my best friend's are bi, and another is gay. People just need to remember to live their own lives and stop worrying about others lives.
