It depends on their intentions. When their discussions don't get a lot of comments it may be a discouragement.

Because they learn they will not make a ton of money and the site requires much effort.

I think a lot of them have a higher expectation of earnings than is offered. There is a large part of the population that somehow thinks that they can replace work with writing a few posts online. That is at least, I think, part of it. But there may be several reasons of course.

It takes some patience to be here and understand the site. They want easy money perhaps and so give up.
