Just how hard was this countdown to do? This band (and tomorrow’s band) didn’t make the top ten! That’s a tough countdown!! To get us closer to Valentines Day here’s another song with “love” in the title. Is That Love - Squeeze Ha! When I announced this countdown I used a Squeeze song to tease/introduce it. Thought you were done with the masters of British pop? No way!!! I’ll make this short and sweet: Squeeze should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (they were very successful in Europe), and they should have been much much bigger in America. To make the point, I introduce this song as exhibit A: a bouncy song about the silly, little things in married life that make it grand. Chris Difford said he was inspired to start the song when he saw his wife’s wedding ring in the bathroom near a bar of soap (“you left my ring by the soap, now is that love?”), and from there a post-punk power pop classic was born.
