39-year-old Brennan Huff lives with his divorced mother, Nancy; and 40-year-old Dale Doback lives with his widowed father, Robert. Nancy and Robert meet, fall in love and get married. Now Brennan and Dale are forced to live together as step brothers.
Brennan and Dale can't stand each other; and Dale warns Brennan not to touch his drum set. Of course Brennan plays on the drums; and Dale notices that there is a chip on one of his drumsticks. A violent fight breaks out. They are grounded for a week and told that they must get jobs within a month or they will be evicted from the house.
There is an incident later on that brings the men closer together; and they become friends.
Ferrell and Reilly make a good comedy team; and it's a shame that their talent can't come forward in this film. There are too many inappropriate things done and said. I have nothing against silly or juvenile comedy; but when it's combined with bad language and inappropriate behavior, I can only think about how I'd like to edit this film. There are parts of this movie that are extremely funny; and it's too bad that you can't watch it the whole way through without being offended. For this reason alone I am giving "Step Brothers" a thumbs down! If you still would like to find out what happens to Brennan and Dale then you'll have to watch the movie and judge for yourself!
This movie is rated R.

A nice review you gave:) And it disgusts me, they have to add immorality, smut, and cussing in a movie. When this happens and I just go into the other room. Most people don't appreciate a funny movie, with garbage stirred in!

Thanks. I don't appreciate smut in a comedy. It ruins it for me.
