Aquarium Motor finally broke!

Philippines

I was shocked when this power head motor was no longer pumping bubbles. sadly, it had to be removed before risking my fish getting electrocuted. I tried looking for solutions in how to get it fix in you-tube but there's no avail. The other parts can be salvage for the new motor. But this one's useless for now. Good thing I didn't threw away some of my old air pumps.

Check it again, debris might had just gotten stucked in the propellers, it could be pulled out it's just a magnet, sometimes it's that small black rubber bushing in the shaft. There's a small chance of electrocution because in that type of motor the electrical components are embeded in water proof epoxy, just check that that cord does not have open wires thats dangerous so as a precaution unplug it before dipping hands in water. Good you have a spare.

@Letranknight2015 yes check it again, that happened to me and plant parts were caught in the propeller. You can open the cover by sliding it out of the 3 clips I think.

@Letranknight2015 it's easy to open, just study where the locking slides when you twist the cap, just be careful the rubber bushing inside where the tip of the shaft goes in does not fall off. I fixed a lot of that in my junkshop that homeowners throw away thinking that it's broke but there are also instances where it's broke and beyond repair, don't be afraid to plug it even if it's out of the water to test but just don't leave it running too long.

It's good you have your old air pumps - they will be of great use til you get another one (unless you can fix this one somehow).

Some time ago such kind of thing happened to me. My solution is to buy a new aquarium motor via the net and I am glad it was arrived in my home within two days. This is a very prompt service.

Hello @youless I was thinking of buying a new motor, but realized it to be impractical as of the moment. Right now they're fine with the simple air pump with filter.

I don't think it would have electrocuted them though because it being broken it wasn't working so it couldn't cause a surge to electrocute them. But it not working it might as well be taken out. Do you have any fish alive right now?
