I guess you can call what happened to Monica Mathis finding out the fate of her lost dog Hazel who vanished from her home in Iowa three years ago as an act of good luck.
Monica who moved from Iowa to St. Paul Minnesota saw an ad on a Facebook page from the Motorworks Brewing Company which is located in Florida that featured the likeness of her dog Hazel who was at the Manatee County Animal Services that was featured as one of the dogs that was featured on a beer can.
Monica contacted the officials of the animal shelter to ask if Hazel who was up for adoption was really her dog due to the facial features.
The official at the animal shelter confirmed that the identity of the dog whose name on the beer can was Day Day was really Hazel since they found a microchip inside the coat of her body that she really was Hazel.
The problem that the animal shelter officials did not contact Monica was that the information on the microchip had expired and Monica had moved from Iowa to Minnesota during the period where the dog and her owner had been separated.
The good news is that a dog volunteer team will take Hazel back to St. Paul to reunite with her owner in a few weeks.
How about that? An ad on Facebook is responsible for a reunion of a lost dog and her owner.

This reminds me of the poster in the other village of a missing dog with a reward of $100 for the finder. My usual question in seeing such a poster is how did the dog get lost. In the first 3 incidents that I investigated, the dog was kept inside the house and when someone got out, left the door open and the dog ran out. That simple. For the 3 lost dogs that were never found, such was the reason for the loss.

@Deepizzaguy it is all right if the dogs on the street are supervised. But if it is deliberately done to let the dogs loose for hours then that is dangerous for the dogs.

It is sad when a dog vanishes when the owner has the door open. One of my neighbors has this habit of letting his dogs loose on the street near my home.

Chips inside dogs and cats are very useful.

I am a sucker for these ones, Glad to hear they reunited. I cannot even fathom. I leave house for 10 minutes and Brooklyn goes psycho. I do wonder if something like that were to happen. I think she would doggie explode into ashes.

The most like case is the one that you have mentioned. My late dog Poochie did not have that problem of running out of the home when her owner would leave to run errands since I was inside to watch her.

@Deepizzaguy Yeah same here, Usually brother is home or sister when I leave. My sister was telling me when I left today. She just sat at the window until I got back and whined like crazy when she saw me come through front fence.
I have to say kind of sucks being watched that closely, not by her but sister or brother good or bad maybe I did not want them to see something because ruin the surprise if good and if bad gets blown out proportion, bad as in their eyes not mine. . Like walking on egg shells and I hate walking on eggshells.

Despite the negative press that Mark Zuckerberg gets for the way he leads Facebook, his site is useful to help people find lost ones.
