Blackhawks in Overtime

How is your day going? It's still to early really to tell for me. Last night the Blackhawks played and lost in overtime. Was really hoping for a win again but I guess getting to overtime is better than losing in regulation time. For those that don't know hockey might wonder how that is better since it is still a loss. So let me explain, in hockey the standings are not just the win/loss a time gets but based first on points, no not goals. So when a team wins a game they get 2 points, if you have a game that goes to overtime but you lose in overtime you still get one point and of course you get nothing for losing. At the end of the season it comes down to how many points you have so if you push it to overtime at least you are getting 1 point for sure. If you win in regulation or in overtime you still just get the 2 points. Now you know a little more about hockey.

Have a good day. Yes loosing in overtime is better than just loosing. Hope they gather good points over the tournament.

They get a point for overtime even if losing? I thought it was 2 points for a win and a point for a tie and that's it.

the winning team (regardless of when they win) gets two points. If a team loses in overtime, they get one point. Should they lose in regulation, they get zero points. Does that make more sense?
