Can't Remember Where I Left, But Here is a Rundown of What's Been Going On Since November

I believe that the last I posted my grandson had come back to the area and was planning on staying for a visit. My husband had also lost his job shortly before that. Well, hubby still has no job. My grandson did come to visit for about 2 weeks. Our home is so small that we were really crowded. Little Miss was excited to meet her brother and thoroughly enjoyed his stay. That being said, he got little rest because she needed his constant attention. My husband has many applications in the various places that are hiring around the area. Nothing has panned out. He did finally receive his unemployment benefits just before Christmas. Thankful for that. But, his not having a job hinders our possibility of getting a home loan. I am applying for a Habitat for Humanity home. The process is lengthy. They want to know your life's history. There are background checks, classes that you need to attend, and if you are approved, you need to put in 200 hours of sweat equity. The sweat equity would be no problem for my husband. For me it may pose a problem. They want me to work in the resale store. With Little Miss only in school for half a day, and me having a part-time job that I will start this weekend, I have no time to work in their store. Once she is in school full-time I may be able to work a few hours a week. My stress level is through the roof. Being a stress eater, I have gained weight and am having a difficult time getting back on track. I have rejoined WW, and even with that I don't follow the program. I am doomed. Hubby took out his 401K and has managed to spend almost all of it. Had to get tires for both vehicles. Our dryer died so that needed to be replaced. Thought he had saved most of it for a rainy day. Well, I guess that fixing his 4-wheeler to the tune of nearly $3000 was a priority. Needless to say I am very upset over that. I am tired of trying to make ends meet, coming close, and having set-backs. Sorry if this has turned into a venting post, but guess I needed to. Thank you for reading. Hope to reconnect with you all.

So sorry for all you are going through. This certainly is the place to vent and hope it helps with the stress. Hopefully, a job will come along soon for your husband.

He is in the process of getting enrolled for classes to get his CDL. There are many jobs for drivers in this area. All local jobs so he wouldn't have to travel.

@DianneN he said he has an appointment on Wednesday to discuss where to begin. The classes are offered by a local career development school that is in town. The cost isn't bad, but I am sure that the unemployment office will foot the bill. If not, I may just tell him to go ahead and enroll and pay by the month. It is a 70 hour course.

This is so stressful for you Elusive. Don't know how much worse it can get really. I have great compassion about it all for you. I sure wish he would find something. Wow the Habitat has a lot of requirements then.

I was surprised at the hoops you have to jump through for the Habitat homes. We had do go through a similar process to adopt our granddaughter.

I'm glad the visit with your grandson was good, even if crowded. I'm sorry your husband is still unemployed. I hope he finds something soon. I wondered how one went about getting one of those homes. I knew about the sweat equity. I don't think I could ever put in 200 hours anymore, not with my physical limitations. It looks like the rainy day savings came when needed. I hope you can get back on track with WW. I can understand why your stress would be through the roof. I'll keep you in my prayers for work for your husband and less stress for you.

Don't be sorry about venting. We all need to vent. Sorry about the car tires and dryer. And all the money basically being spent. I hope things turn around for you guys very soon.

Glad at least that we had money available for the things we truly needed. If not we would have been in a bind with the vehicles and other necessities.

He is hoping to get his CDL license. There are many jobs open for drivers but require a CDL. I just want him to get a job so we can pay our bills.

Thank you! I won't say they can get any worse, because we know that's not true. Worst case would be he could reapply to work with his former employer. I hope that doesn't happen.

If you live near Lowes, I do know many of them are hiring since Spring is around the corner.

I am taking each day as it comes. I've been through times that were much more difficult and came out on top. I have no doubt that I will get through this.
