Alex Socorro @Alexandoy posted about his snack for this afternoon, a local food. Here"s mine.
The past days, I'm looking that stuff in the photo at the streets since there are vendors used to display at one corner but they're now prohibited by the local authorities to display.
This afternoon, I've got the right timing when I pass at one street because I saw an ambulant vendor selling the stuff. I will introduce this to you as "STEAMED CAKE", a local food made from grated cassava. We have a local term for this and I'm sure people from the Philippines exactly knew what the local term is.
My snack this afternoon.

@ZedSmart it's only molded like a small cake. Or it is popularly known locally as "lanson". That's our favorite afternoon snack. It's usually wrapped in a banana leaf.

Yes, it's not common unlike burger. Although, there's a bakeshop here that sells most Filipino kakanin but this one is not included. I miss eating the suman sa lihiya too. We had neighbor then that sells the best tasting suman sa lihiya I'd ever tasted but they're not living here now.

@msdivkar If it is white in colour it belongs to the same family as the sweet potato.

@yoalldudes I think they're translating the Spanish term. See the connection?

We have this cassava cake also. The difference is, with puto, the juice of the grated cassava is removed, compressed the grated cassava with a cloth to remove further the remaining juice then after that, it would be broken by rolling the molded grated cassava due to compression at your palm to make it grainy. After these procedures, other ingredients were added such as grated coconut and sugar or you can cook as is without the other ingredients. The bland puto can be paired then with your ulam.
