For 35 days I listed favorites alphabetically, and now I’m in the top ten. If you were wondering why this guy didn’t show up in the alphabetical list, it’s because he’s top ten material! Another old favorite takes today’s spot on the list of favorites with “love” in the title. Pain of Love - Boz Scaggs So why do I like Robert Palmer so much? Because he always reminded me of a British Boz Scaggs. Ah, blue-eyed soul. There are a lot of honkies who think they can do R&B, but very few really can. Case in point: someone I mentioned yesterday, M*ch**l B*lt*on. No. Just plain freaking NO!! Boz Scaggs, on the other hand? He won an R&B Grammy for “Lowdown,” so, yeah, he can. Oh, can he. In fact, a woman I was stationed with in Norfolk said she was genuinely surprised to discover Scaggs was Caucasian after falling in love with “Lowdown.” It wasn’t a gimmick: if you go back and listen to “Baby’s Callin’ Me Home,” which Scaggs did with the Steve Miller Band in 1968, you can hear that there’s been a lot of soul in this man’s voice for a long time. Here he goes the ballad route, with a song written by the album’s producer, Johnny Bristol. One of my favorite Scaggs tunes, which was on the album before he became a superstar. Are you suffering from hearing loss, John? Oh, wait, that’s Huey’s problem.

I've heard of Boz Scaggs; but I don't recognize the song. Love Robert Palmer though! Saw him in concert.
