Ever know something, but not really know it?

Ever know something without realizing it? That was me,recently. I'm not very culturally diverse in my ethnic background. German and English so I always thought. Now I knew my English ancestry from my mom's side was from a place in England called Cornwall... and I knew that my dad would make a big deal of this being Celtic. But my dad always used to be rather like the dad from "Big Fat Greek Wedding" movie, and incase you haven't seen that movie - that screen dad would say everything was Greek. (or whatever he wanted it to be) So the same with my dad, so I totally discounted it. Until I recently looked up , and yes indeed. Cornwall - along with Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man, and Britany - are the 6 Celtics nations. It really meant a lot to me. I have always liked the music and the knotwork and have an odd sense of Deja Vu, around things like Mummer's Day... In the meantime enjoy some lovely Celtic music :

@FayeHazel Sequels are often a bit of a disappointment.

Well that's interesting, and nice to know about you. I have been told I'm certain things, but don't really know for sure and probably never will. As I'm not paying to find out. I just go by what i like and dont care to be "in my roots"

@FayeHazel hm that's weird that its not 100%. Just another reason to not pay the amount of money they want to do them

You mean - like - not doing the dna test thing? Yeah I don't blame you there. Those things aren't 100% accurate. A friend of mine did it and she says they mail updates because it gets more accurate the more people that do it. So hers (and everyone's) changes. Wow.

@Courtlynn So true. Like , how can it get more accurate - for your results - the more people that do it?

I saw that movie and think that it just might be time to watch it again. I don't really remember much of it other than that I enjoyed it. Time for a second viewing.

Yes, I’ve felt that way often. I have enjoyed Celtic music ever since hearing it in the U.K. I’ve only been to Scotland, Ireland, and London (3 times). I hope you get to visit.

Good to know I'm not only one. :-) Celtic music is so beautiful. I'm happy you've gotten to travel -- maybe someday I will get over there :-)

Now that's a pretty cool discovery - though inside you kinda felt it all along. My ancestry is pretty much straight forward, but my husband's is a bit more complex and parts are unknown . . . but we do focus on the Scottish side at least of my father in law's side - a bit of Celtic in my kids then .
