I was watching a family court case on Youtube when I heard the term Histrionic used to refer to the mother. I admit I had never heard this before and thaough I'd better look it up. Histrionic personality disorder (HPD) is essentially a pattern of behaviour that includes the need to seek and be the center of attention and the constant need for approval. People who have this disorder tend to be dramatic, lively, enthuisiastic and flirtatious among other things. They tend to be loud and overly emotional. In the court case I saw, the judge told the defendnt that Histronic in simple terms meant she was a drama queen. I am sure I have met a few people like this in my lifetime but I never knew it was a disorder. Have you heard of Histrionic personality disorder? Do you know anyone that exhibits similar behaviors? Do we really need to label every type of behavior?

I have met some drama queens in my life. I have a short nerve circuit and sometimes do overreact when things go wrong but mostly I am quiet and content to remain in the background

I've heard of histrionic behaviour but didn't know it was a disorder. I agree with you that not every behaviour needs to be labelled.

So true. Until a label is place on it it seems like just an attitude
