We had to keep moving

Yesterday when I bought these boots, I never thought I'd be traipsing through the mud with them. I never thought I'd be carrying my little brother in my arms, my sister's hand clasped in mine either. I had a knapsack on my back, all the things I thought we could use in them. A bit of bread, some cheese, a first aid kit and a needle and two spools of thread. My sister carried a blanket and pillow in one arm, her own knapsack full of sheets, some water, and our brother's favorite teddy. Our parents were nowhere to be found. I didn't have time to think about why. All I knew is we had to keep walking. Up the hill, through the woods, down the slope that took us into the village and maybe from there we could find more things to take with us. Bridget was hoping we could find her friends there too, but I knew that we couldn't risk trusting anyone but ourselves. The infection was spreading, people were becoming shadows of themselves. I'd seen for myself what happens when these changed people touched anyone. Just one simple touch and the virus spread. Nicholas stirred in my arms, his little eyes opening and taking in his surroundings. He'd been asleep when I put him in his coat, put on his little boots and picked him up. "FiFi, where's mama?" The question broke my heart, leaving me yearning for her strong arms myself. Now she was.. Well, I hope she was at peace. Papa was stupid for following her, but I couldn't blame him either. He witnessed the love of his life convulse, spittle coming from her mouth before her eyes opened, strange and unseeing. We had to keep moving. This was a dream! Kind of walking dead esque, isn't it?

@amitkokiladitya We want to make our discussions stand out so that people will read them, don't we? Not always easy to think of good titles. How are your online earnings? Are you happy with them?

I suppose this is due to the recent news about the Chinese virus.

I think you are right. It's worked it's way into my subconscious. I felt like I was back in time too, and in my mind the words "Scarlet Fever" kept coming up. In my dream I found my father.. His face was red and blotchy, he was sweating profusely and very weak. His hair was falling out in clumps.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I am also mad at the Chinese government. They now admit that they do not want to scare people because of the Chinese New Year, they are crazy.

@marguicha I plan to. I want to take an hour out of the day and write just for the sake of doing it.

I have to keep moving in reality.

I'll admit, I try to live my life divorced from reality as much as possible. Of course, I know when to come back to reality.

What a beautiful dream.

Beautiful, and yet sad. In my dream I was going up the hill that is behind my house here. It's not the first time I have had a dream where I was walking that way. In reality I would end up on a road after only about 12 feet. In my dream there were endless fields.

@thelme55 I have to have it on my mind first thing or I'll forget. Though I do sometimes embellish the stories here, but only slightly. Usually saying a "red bag" instead of just "a bag".

@ScribbledAdNauseum I find it amazing that you often dream of many things and can still remember them when awake.

Very good writing. I had one of my recurrent dreams last night. I am carrying this baby around (not mine) and it's always heavy and hard to handle. I lose the baby at one point during my dream (always!)....Then I found it; and it turned into a cat; and I put a leash on it...and on and on...

Oh wow! That sounds distressing. You didn't know whose it was?

@ScribbledAdNauseum I knew whose it was; but I can't remember now if I know/knew this person in real life. So strange.

@LindaOHio That does sound really strange. I've had dreams about babies recently too. I think the last one involved me trying to get a friends baby back to them.
