My 2nd day of the Childcare Course

I say Childcare Course because it's quicker but really the course is called "Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care."
Today was the first time I travelled to the course from my house and it was very simple so I'm all good with that now.
When I arrived, the power was out and we ALMOST went home because we need power but it came back on eventually and almost everyone was disappointed lol me included just cause I'm tired but was a good day.
I actually learned this yesterday. But apparently you can not call children "kids." Because "They are children, not goats."
I will make sure I say children but it's silly to me personally. Because what are the chances of people thinking I'm looking after goats when I tell them I look "after kids." I just found it silly is all.
Today our teacher got us to play a little game to help us learn about each other. Everyone had to say two truths about themselves and one lie then we had to guess what was true and what was false.
For mine I said "I love singing. I love coffee. My favourite animal is raccoons." My teacher looked at me and said "Ooh good ones. I don't see you as a coffee person so I think that's a lie." She was right lol And then she said "You look like a singer." I don't know what that means but I will just take that as a compliment anyway lol
The rest of the day was good. A lot more work and learning. Next class is on Tuesday. For now it's just two days a week which is perfect.
Hope everyone is good. Thank you for reading.

@LadyDuck That is actually why I picked that one lol Because it's not exactly common especially for an Aussie. I heard some girls in the back of the class go "Oh!" ( as in a very confused kinda oh ) after I mentioned the raccoons.

You don't like coffee? How are we even friends? How can we be lovers if you don't enjoy coffee with me in the morning?

So what will you be doing with the children? Will you have them in your home or go somewhere to watch after them?

@Hannihar I will be minding children from ages 0 - 5 at a childcare centre. I do believe that I will also have the qualifications to work in a school, be a Nanny and / or work at home but not completely sure as I am only in it to work in a childcare centre. I much prefer that right now. I am excited. Nervous, but excited!

Hey good to know that you enjoyed your first day there. I am sure the course will be full of such fun and learning. When I did my Montessori course, I was told the same thing... Not to call human babies as kids.

@arunima25 That is interesting to know you were taught the same thing! It's so silly to me!

@arunima25 Thank you for saying all that as it makes me feel better because there is A LOT to learn and it's been stressing me out. But you are right, it will all eventually sink in.

@VivaLaDani13 It might sound silly in beginning and many things don't make sense to beginners. But slowly they sink in. Montessori and Steiner are particular about respect to child's soul and so no loose talks or casual terms are used.

@VivaLaDani13 And how long will it take to finish the course?

@marlina Finishes on the 9th of September I believe. There will be some weeks throughout the course where we have to do Practical Placement so actually working in a childcare centre to gain experience. From memory that will start in April, and it will be a week here and there making a total of 5 weeks.

@marlina Good question. I'm not really sure. I am personally happy about it because of the anxiety I am feeling when I go ( gets better a little bit after I arrive ) as well as how far I have to travel via public transport. I don't know if I could do that every day.
But maybe it's because the teacher has other classes or maybe it works better with her personal schedule as she does have two children of her own. Not sure.

@JohnRoberts That's right! It's so stupid to me. I wonder which easily offended parent started this nonsense!
