Clark Griswold has earned a large bonus check for inventing a long-life preservative; and Clark says that he's going to take the family on a vacation. He also wants to renew his wedding vows with his wife, Ellen. Everyone loses their enthusiasm when Clark says that they are going to Las Vegas, since it's not a family-friendly town. Clark makes a comment that he hardly recognizes the kids anymore. This is making a reference to the fact that this is the fourth time that the actors for Rusty and Audrey have been changed!
On the flight to Las Vegas, Clark and Ellen meet in the tiny bathroom to try and join the Mile-High Club. The plane jerks; and Ellen gets her foot caught in the toilet and gets blue dye on her foot and pant leg. Clark tries to extricate her foot and gets blue dye on his hand and jacket sleeve. Upon arriving at the hotel, Rusty and Audrey discover that they are not old enough to gamble; and this takes the wind out of their sails. As usual, the movie is filled with the trials and tribulations of the Griswold family.
This movie was not received well by the critics. It's kind of a silly movie; however, I don't mind watching it occasionally. Chevy Chase is always funny. I actually enjoy watching it more than I do "National Lampoon's European Vacation". As to whether I can recommend it or not...watch it if it comes on TV some time. You can judge for yourself.
This movie is Rated PG.
