Giving treats at the workplace

At this new workplace, my colleagues always bring candies and a variety of goodies when they come back from vacations. From healthy nuts and seeds to chocolates and candies. Also, they offer small treats for birthdays and special occasions. And there is always an occasion to celebrate. It's a very friendly gesture but a new concept for me. In my previous workplace, we didn't have treats except from birthdays sometimes. I like this new concept, but it's hard to maintain my healthy habits and weight with all this chocolate. What do you think about this habit? Is it something you would also participate?

Seems like you have nice new colleagues. I don't think it can affects too much on your health but you can allways to say you are on diet.

I tried that, the colleagues didn't like no for an answer! Now I am taking the candies and keep them in the drawer for later.

I find it a very friendly gesture and good for team building. I don't know how it started but everyone likes it, even the big bosses will participate.

I always do that in my former office that my colleagues there would be excited when I would file a vacation leave for a trip abroad.

It's maybe once a week, sometimes less and other times more. I don't eat all of them so I have a drawer with the extra sweets to go through the difficult days.

I like this concept also, it's a nice feeling to give and receive small treats. When someone comes back from vacations we are all waiting to see what goodies they brought back!
