Ever since I went to Mexico for the first time with my husband, the only mantels I have had in the dining room table are some beautiful ones that depict the Aztec sun. The cloth is such that nothing can stain it and it can be washed in the bathroom sink and put it in the sun to dry. It does not wrinkle.
Since that first one, over 20 years ago, until now, I have bought one every time I go to Mexico. This last time, when I went to Ciudad de México with my daughters, as I wasn´t sure I would return, I bought 2 instead of one.
Today I put them on my bed so that Claudia could choose one. They are old so they can be used for everyday eating. And I will use 2 old ones for the tables outside. One for the terrace and one for the garage. I´m wondering if Luna will play with them. Now she does not harm the clothes I set to dry outside.

I got a picture of the Aztec sun from Pixabay. I have several tablecloths made of agave. The color of my tablecloths are sand like.

@just4him She needed some and bought one for visitors. I gave her a new one and an old one for everyday use. With children, one is just too little.

@DianneN I used placemats when the daughters were small until I discovered that they managed to get the food on the table. End of the placemats. Then I discovered this magic table mantels made from agave. I can wash them in a jiffy either in the washing machine or by hand.

They are all made with a cloth from the agave, a sort of cactus.

@marguicha Oh! That's interesting. I had never known of it. It's another natural fiber and so quite environment friendly too

I got a picture of the Aztec sun, but the actual tablecloth is made of a type of agave, a plant that has had lots of uses since the times of the Mayas.
