Wow, I took Skip to Chapel Hill today for injections in both his eyes. He is beginning to get them every six weeks. The good thing is they constantly put numbing drops in them prior to doing the injections. Skip said the needles weren't unbearable when going into each eyeball. I know you must be cringing reading this. When telling anyone ... I see all kinds of reactions and people say they would go blind first. I will tell you this ... I will do anything to keep my eyesight ... that's why Skip is getting them. It comes from having diabetes. Do you know anyone who is getting injections in their eyes?

Skip is the only one I know personally getting injections in his eyes ... but, I see a lot of people at the eye center getting them now.

@Deepizzaguy George, I don't know if it's a new treatment but, I am aware of it being given for the past several years. It keeps one from going blind when diabetes affects their eyes. I'm so glad. It makes such a difference for Skip in a good way.

Yikes, that would scare me but not as bad as retinal surgery did.

We hope he won't have to have retinal surgery. Sounds like you had experience with retinal surgery?

They put lots of numbing drops in his eyes making it bearable and 'not so bad'. He sees so much better making it worth it, and it'll keep him from going blind.

They keep putting numbing drops into his eyes at different times until it's time to actually inject each eye.

Yes, you are right, that's why he is going through it. His diabetes is controlled but, over time has hurt his eyes. Thankfully, they are going to be alright. I am sorry your aunt has to go through this, also.

@GrannyGee Prayers for him. My aunt is now okay with it. She panicked the first time.

@arunima25 I can understand panicking. Just speaking of it to anyone disturbs them. I'm glad she's okay with it now.
