Harmony and health

The great Sufi Indian spiritual mystic, Hazrat Inayat Khan, (1882 to 1927) believed that most of the problems in our lives comes from disharmony. From reading his writings, he thought that: "disharmonious thoughts cause us ill health, for example, and harmonious thoughts, allow us to continue in good health." Here is a from the great master, Hazrat Inayat Khan, himself: “There are two aspects of individual harmony: the harmony between body and soul, and the harmony between individuals. All the tragedy in the world, in the individual and in the multitude, comes from lack of harmony. And harmony is the best given by producing harmony in one's own life. ” Was Hazrat Inayan Khan right, do we need harmonious thoughts to stay healthy, and do disharmonious thoughts cause us health problems? Hazrat also thought that if we were already sick, in some way, or another, keeping thinking inharmonious thoughts would only attract more sickness to us, and thinking harmonious thoughts would help us to recover from our illnesses. Thoughts live either in a depository of love, or of fear, or in a cesspit of filth, or in a vessel of pristineness. It's obvious what types of thoughts bring us good health then, the pristine ones, the ones harmonious to God, and to ourselves, and to others around us too. Any disruptions to harmony starts bad vibrations, which bring disharmony and disruptive thoughts, which interfere with our health, then too. So, yes, he was right there, I think. Do you agree? I agree. What we feel and think depends on what we are exposed to

Yes, outside influences can affect us, and cause us to drop out of harmony, with both the world, and ourselves, at times. We do have some control over this though, that is, if we can become aware of what is happening to us here, and so do something to counteract our immediate reactions to these outside influences.

@amitkokiladitya It's good if we can learn to do that. It makes for a much smoother ride for us in our lives. We do not jump up and down, and overreact to as many situations that occur, if we can exercise some control over our reactions.

As far as harmony is concerned I remember the very essence of music. The music is good to listen to if there's harmony. Same with the group of singers or the choir. Among the couples harmonious relationship of the hubby and the wife brings their marriage lasting.

Hazrat Inayat Khan at play
This great spiritual giant, I talked of there, was also a musical genius, a singer and an instrument player, so he knew all about harmony in music too.

Wise words indeed - harmony and balance, like yin and yang, without mysticism, keep so much in check

@arthurchappell Yes, their idea just doesn't satisfy me though. I am greedy for something more. I, irrationally perhaps, want to believe in a big daddy figure out there somewhere, that can ensure me that I will always have my place in his home.

Though we may have really positive thoughts and vibrations but it is not necessary that we can not be a trap of any disease. It would be a best practice of keeping positivity around oneself , it is rather a prevention to all sickness but not really a cure. But it is agreeable that disharmony may interfere with our health but it is still not a thumb rule , because it is very hypothetical to always stay in harmony as we are humans and any average human would have a natural tendency to carry both positive and negative aspects in their aura like one may have disagreements , contradictions to numerous people around . Not everyone is born with the same thoughts and energies , thus it is obvious to have certain level of disharmony in lives.

@parpande Yes, it's a double negative, if you allow the negative to negatively affect, or concern you. (i.e. we become more negative because of the negative)

Well, harmony could be compared to trying to remain, or to retain a relaxed state, of body and mind, and disharmony, would be feeling stressed, from over-thinking issues, being attached to results, or having too strong an opinion, or desire, about something, or another. In this world of dualities, we do carry both positive and negative tendencies, or energies, in us, but, overall, we should try to chill out, rather than to burn up, with any issue that affects us.

The beauty within is reflected in our face - goes an Indian saying. We know how people leave positive and negative vibrations. It is more of our attitude - willingness to accept the realities of life. We are placed in certain circumstances, dealt some cards. Then it is up to us to deal with them with a positive frame of mind than sulk in a corner lamenting how unfair is life to us! I do not judge people and believe they have a basis for their viewpoints - there is always some positiveness even in the most depressed. We can learn from all - from some, how not to be like them! Yes, by spreading cheer all around we do benefit from its fall out too and then it heralds a smooth and healthy ride for all in every way - siva

Nicely written, siva. I think that you have always tried to keep the harmony going, in your own life, and all around you too.

@Shiva49 Criticism seldom achieves much. I wonder if there is ever any good that can come out of criticism of others? The critic is a judge of others, and God forbids us to judge, as we never have the full bottle to be able to do so, only God can judge, but he never does so either, as he allows his love to warm up the cold, and then no judgement is needed, once another person warms to his love too.

@innertalks Thanks Steve, I have seen some just criticize others all their lives without doing their bit to set right things. That is sowing disharmony and the end result is more of disharmony and misery for the common folks - siva

If we do enough bad deeds to ourselves, like eating bad foods, not exercising enough, carrying negative thoughts in us, all of the time, we will destroy ourselves, in the end.
