Container Garden For Vegetables, Flowers

I really don't have a place for a vegetable garden, nor the desire to care for a big one ... especially in this North Carolina heat. Last year the heat broke all records for being the hottest.
I've been reading, researching online how to have an inexpensive, easy way to grow vegetables, flowers. I think I have decided on what I am going to do.
I have been saving sturdy hard plastic jugs such as the ones laundry detergent comes in ... cutting off the tops and shaping it like I want it. I leave the handles on so, I can attach wire to it ... then, to fence to hold each jug.
I am looking forward to having a container garden up on the tall fence with my favorite veggies growing. Skip will enjoy standing with the garden hose watering them. One can get in a relaxing trance when watering flowers.
If anyone has any tips to make it a good experience for me ... tell me. I always welcome anyone's ideas.

My sister has good luck with tomatoes and cucumbers in pots. I have only ever done herbs like basil, cilantro, dill, sage, and rosemary in pots. I am in an apartment complex now but I hope to have a few pots of herbs inside next to the front window.

That's what I want most ... tomatoes, cucumbers growing. Oh, and some bell peppers. I also, want peppermint growing ... one of my favorite herbs.

Yes! That's exactly what I wanted to do ... all be mostly alike and look neat, nice. I paint, draw and may do that on some of them. I am looking forward to using my imagination.

Thelma, that's where I've seen some very pretty container gardens online ... on small porches, balconies, and such. I have been amazed.
