Kept away from Mylot...

I had a lot of time at hand today to be here. If you read my last post you would know that I had a short working day today and that might continue for rest of this week till my student recovers and comes back. The school has not much to keep me occupied as it's exam times here and almost end of academic year.
Though I had good amount of time, I deliberately tried to stay away from Mylot. And definitely it was a bit tough. I got itching several times to peep in here but I controlled myself
Rather I chose to do few other things that I love to do and am not able to do because I get tempted by Mylot
I read all the 15 articles that I had bookmarked for reading. They all relate to early childhood education and some classroom tips. Though I knew a part of these articles, it was good to revisit things that we tend to forget or ignore when we start working regularly.
Well Internet is like an ocean... One link leads to other. And while reading these I got links to few more of such useful resources like activities, songs, worksheets etc... I have bookmarked a few of them for further reference. So guess I would be less here and exploring them more.
Had a nice hot lunch with my elder one and then went to pick up my younger daughter. My elder one is going to be 16 in few months. And now talking to her is at different level. She is mature and sensible now. The talk seems more like talks between two adult friends than a parent child one. It's good to listen to her perspective about so many things going around in current world. Our lunch was for good one hour with all chit chat. I had to get up as it was time to pick up younger daughter.
Now I am here for 20 minutes. Then I would cook dinner and along with that help my younger daughter in her homework if she needs help. It's her piano class at evening and I have to drive her there. While she attends her class, I will walk in the nearby park and make few important calls.
I have all plans to keep mylot to minimum for coming few days and do other things that I enjoy

@anil02 Yes. Things if not done in time add up to inconvenience later.

Just keep your work. It's a matter how you balance it by doing things here

Always pleasure reading your post. So very different from those of most of us. Talking about the internet, it is no more amazing to me as it did some fifteen years back when I first acquired my desk top and with it access to internet. It was so very costly then and I used to limit myself to night time only when it used to be free. My elder daughter was in 9th standard then and she wanted to know about second world war. It was amazing to see the vast information that it provided at that time.

@arunima25 I was introduced to computers way back in 1990 when I was working for a private construction firm operating at Kaiga Atomic Power Plant. The main contractor there was L&T and we were one of the many contractors doing ancillary works. I did lot of work in Lotus 123 including having my own program for design of building structure. It went on until 1996 when I resigned and started my own firm. I got my first computer in 2003.
Your family looks to be of intellectuals. It is great to have an IITan in the family.

@msdivkar My husband is also from IIT.
It's so nice to know of your career journey. My daughter is opting for Designing as a career. We suggested her to have architecture as one option.

Yes. We have to do that by intentionally keeping us away from the temptations of few things like mylotting

@JudyEv I feel reading is equally addictive. Once you are into it, you are in different zone.

That is nice that you can have a nice talk with her. You have to do what you have to do and come here when you want to or can.

I agree Mylot is a big part of my life now and I enjoy being here. But it's necessary to draw a line where it doesn't become an addiction and affects everything else. Good that we have a flexibility to be here whenever we can.

Yes the internet is vast and we need to be intentional in what we are looking for or we will be led to other things but that is okay too. It is like an adventure. And I'm glad you were able to do what you intend to do.

You are so right. We can easily get distracted. That's why I stayed focused and other interesting useful links that i found, I saved it for later. I kept myself confined to what I had to do.
