About REAL ID Again ...

On our news we have been hearing about all the states that haven't done REAL IDs ... and they are wanting to delay the deadline ... October 2020.
I just don't see how all states can comply with it by that time. It's awful now ... people can't just walk in a DMV and get it done that easily.
Usually, they are missing one document required and have to reschedule to come back ... or come in and wait for hours. Sadly ... all the people who went into one DMV recently in Raleigh to get them ... had appointments ... the computer was down. They had to come back another time.
They'd gotten off work to come, take care of business ... they lost out on much-needed wages. We watched, listened to people being interviewed on the local news. Gracious, I felt their pain.
In our situation, I had to reschedule our appointments in order for me to go to the county I was born in ... get a certified birth certificate. The agent has to be able to run their finger over the seal ... feel it to know it's certified, real.
Online I had read what I needed for Skip and I to go get our REAL IDs ... I thought I had prepared ahead of time. I should have all required documents this time.
What I found strange was ... that the marriage certificate 'had to show how I got from being my maiden name 'Brown' to being my married name ... 'Bates'. I guess just because it didn't say it like that online ... it sounded strange to me.
I have our certified birth certificates, our social security cards, and several utility bills showing our current address where our mail comes to. I think I am prepared. Also, we have our driver's licenses.
Our appointments are in the first week of March. I am looking forward to having it behind us. When people mention REAL IDs ... I'm amazed they just want to argue about it. It's nothing to me so, I don't waste words arguing. I just want to take care of business, go on living.
Tell my your experiences in obtaining your REAl ID.

Yep, it was a total hassle when I went for mine. I sure do hope that I won't have to do that again, after all they now have my birth certificate and thumbprints on file so what more would they want? A retina scan in case someone cuts off my thumbs to try to impersonate me? Cheeeze.

Girl, you don't have time to hear my story. I got soooo aggravated when I tried to renew my license. I ended up going three times and finally said, "Just give me the regular one." I told that DMV man how rude he was, but of course nothing mattered.

@GrannyGee It was so irritating and I still don't have a "real" ID.
