So Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty in New York of two of the five charges in court and will serve a minimum 5 years to a maxim of 25 years in jail, if the court plays by the rules. He is Jewish and they run this town so you never know, an Epstein type jail term deal still lurking. Harvey was guilty of giving 'forced oral sex' ( just close your legs woman) and third degree rape, whatever that is.
Whats odd is the women who accused him in court carried on their relationships with Weinstein well after the alleged sexual abuse and rape was supposed to have happened, and plenty of emails and texts from them to him, very complimentary thereafter, somewhat odd and some. Weinstein's lawyers argued it was consensual sex, and one of the women was even in a long term relationship with him. The prosecution lawyers went down the cohesion abusive relationship line that the women felt if they ended their thing with Harvey they would never work in show biz again and so trapped and not that consensual. Others would say they were cynical and used a sexual relationship with Harvey to get work, a reciprocal arrangement by ambitious women who craved fame. Did they turn on him long after the event when it became clear he was finished in Hollywood and so no good to their careers? Why cant women behave like cynical men sometimes? In the eyes of the law they never seem to. Is it possible that the #metoo movement against Harvey offered them a way out of their guilt from being in that seedy relationship?
Of course he was a pervert and a wretch and deserved jail time but did the prosecution lawyers pick these women so to open up the floodgates of civil court claims from their other client, and so huge profits for the lawyers, the movie mogul now guilty and so more likely to lose those cases. Its the studio insurers that have been paying out so far and Harvey still very rich. It all feels rather cynical.
