Art or trash

Ingvar Cronhammar is a Swedish artist who lives in Denmark. In 1994 he created a huge sculpture, and one of the local schools received the sculpture as a gift. In the 2017 the sculpture was destroyed by accident. Someone gave the wrong instructions to the workers in the area. They were told to remove the sculpture, and they did as they were told. When they were done the sculpture had been cut into many small pieces and it was taken to the recycling center. When the artist found out what had happened he was sad and angry. Some of the locals were angry, too. Other locals didn't like the sculpture, and they said: "How were the workers supposed to know they did something wrong? It looked like trash not art" When the mistake was discovered they went to the recycling center, but it wasn't possible to repair the sculpture, the damage was too severe. The people who were responsible for the mistake have been criticised a lot, and they had to pay for a new sculpture. The price of the new sculpture has not been revealed, but the old sculpture cost 300000 kr (about $43700) and the new sculpture was more expensive than that.

Things like this can happen, but if I would read a similar news, without knowing where it was, I would bet that this happened in Romania.

Things are usually well-organized my country, but in this case something went terribly wrong. The people who were responsible for the mistake had to pay a large amount of money for the new sculpture.

@Porcospino this is how things should be solved. If somebody makes a mistake, he should pay the price of it and end of story. In Romania, there is an endless debate about things and many things are never solved.

Something went very wrong, and the expensive sculpture was destroyed. The artist was shocked when he found out what happened. I would feel bad too if someone detroyed my art because of a misunderstanding.
