Dougherty County Commissioners officials had the pleasure of rewarding 20 year old Jay Juarez and the first responders who risked their lives to rescue a woman who was trapped in the rushing waters of the Flint River on February 15.
Jay who insists he was doing his job when he jumped into the Flint River in Albany Georgia to rescue a stranger who was struggling to stay afloat when he jumped into the raging water.
It appears that Jay must have called 911 to report the incident since the first responders of the county came to rescue Jay and the accident victim who was drifting in the raging river by taking them to a safe place away from the river.
Jay was thrilled that his act of heroism is being rewarded even though he is humble about saving the life of person who needed to be helped.

It is a real act of bravery since the odds of surviving a raging river are remote,

It does take a lot of courage to jump into a raging river to save a life of a stranger, Jay deserves his admiration form the Albany city officials.
