It's so Unacceptable to Me

This isn't the first time. My brother-in-law opened a package that was not his. It is sooooooo annoying. Yesterday, my husband and I ordered a dress which my daughter had been eyeing on for days. Today, I received a call from my hubby that the dress will be delivered. My daughter and I was out to buy lunch so my husband told his brother that a package will be delivered today. When my daughter and I got home, we saw the dress hang on the wall. I was sooooo flustered! He shouldn't have opened the package! He could have at least waited for my daughter. Few months ago, my husband bought a jacket for me. He called me that my jacket will be delivered that day. When I got home, I saw the jacket on the floor outside our bedroom. To my dismay, I called my husband to say how dare his brother open the package that was not under his name. Usually, the package is addressed to my husband. That does not give him the authority to open the package even if my husband is his brother. How stupid!

maybe have all deliveries addressed to your hubby's office from now on?

@Iam_jauntyjen because in other countries, there are people that go around neighborhoods to steal deliveries since they're just left on the porch. so what others have done is to have all deliveries sent to their workplace so they can personally receive it and bring home safely.

@hereandthere It's different here. Even if you leave your bag unattended nobody will touch it. Very unlikely in the Philippines. (I am Filipino)

@Iam_jauntyjen that is really annoying. Maybe you can issue a directive, a formal one to him about opening items not addressed to him.

@Alexandoy haaaayyy. He is already in his fifties. He should know that he should not open a package that is not addressed to him. But I will consider your suggestion.

How old is your brother-in-law? Doesn’t he know the meaning of private property? If he’s still a little five year old boy, perhaps he might not understand. But even my five year old grandson knows well not to open other people’s packages. You need to talk to him about boundaries.

@Iam_jauntyjen Why is he still living with you? I thought your brother-in-law is still a child and that is why he’s at your house, living with you. Shouldn’t he have his own family already?

@UmiNoor Because he is an a*shole. Hahaahaha. He is jobless. He and the youngest sibling are jobless.

That's not the best thing to do. If I'm in your shoes, I would be feeling so bad too.

@Iam_jauntyjen Oh how annoying! This type of action would annoy me too! I wonder how he would feel if other people opened his mail!

@Iam_jauntyjen Maybe it will wake up him and make him realise what he is doing is so wrong!

This is really bad on his part. I completely agree it should be made to understand what his limits are

I totally agree. I think my BIL was not taught not to open packages that weren't' addressed to him. When my hubby brought up to his brother that I didn't like what he did. His response was " I thought the contents were yours". That goes to show that it has been his habit.

You have all the rights to be offended and angry, what he did is unacceptable.
