Today I'm having a 'me' day.
I started by phoning my sister - spent around an hour just chatting about nothing in particular. By the time I'd got off the phone it was lunchtime and as the weather, although very windy, was sunny and dry I decided to gt out my hoe and try and get rid of some of the weeds I could see creeping through from my kitchen window.
It's now middle of the afternoon so, having grabbed myself a cup of tea and a cookie, I starting sifting through some old photos. A lot of them were given to me by my mum before she got dementia and went into a care home, Other are photos I'd taken over the years.
It's always lovely to sift back through the past and remember all the wonderful times you've had throughout your life. I then thought that maybe MyLot people would like to have a little glimpse at my life here in rural Norfolk (UK)!
The first one, however, isn't actually strictly part of my history. It's a picture of my mum. From the age of 7 she was keen on the girl guides. She started as a brownie and then became a girl guide. She continued with the movement until she was in her early 20s.
This photo is Mum on a trip to see one of our old Norfolk wherries. These were boats that were a little like yachts but somewhat flatter. They were used to carry goods up and down the rivers. Adam, my partner, actually spent some time working on them back in the 1980s when he also learned how to cut reeds for Norfolk thatch - used to cover cottage roofs.
Mum's the girl guide at the back that I've ringed. This would have been taken in the late 1940s.
