A delicious and frugal steak dinner

Every Saturday, with a few exceptions, is dining out day for hubby and I. Instead of having dinner at home, after hubby comes home from work, we go out to eat. This past Saturday hubby called me to let me know that he will be attending a fraternity event and that he will not be coming home after work as it doesn't make sense. I thought of coming to where he will be so we can go eat somewhere before he has to go to this event but if we did that he'd be late to the gathering. So, that was out of the question as well. I was gonna be eating dinner without him. I have no problem dining out somewhere alone. Done it many times in the past. Though sometimes it's a bit sad when everyone else in the restaurant is with someone and I am sitting alone. At first I thought of going somewhere for dinner but as I wasn't in a happy mood after finding out hubby won't be spending the evening with me, I decided to go home and eat there. There was nothing to eat at home so I decided to get some steak and mushrooms at my local supermarket. I bought a porterhouse steak and crimini mushrooms for my entree and a lemon poppy seed muffin for dessert. All three items were actually on sale. It turned out to be a delicious dinner and it cost me under $15. Had I gone to a steakhouse for a porterhouse steak I would have spent probably close to $60.

I was hoping we'd at least have dinner together before he went to that thing. Was sad that it wasn't gonna happen.

Did you leave some for your husband?

Nope. The steak was not very big. I was gonna leave him the bone as he loves bones but then decided to throw it out. I did leave him a chocolate chip muffin though. But I bought it for him anyway.

I'm sorry you ate alone because your husband had an event to attend. I'm glad it turned out to be a frugal and delicious dinner.

It was worth. Still, I wish I had gone somewhere. Funny thing, originally I was actually craving some sushi and thinking that's where hubby and I would go for dinner.
