Twenty-eight years jail for child sex offenders

Friends of ours have regularly fostered children for many years. Sometime in the mid 2000s, they took in a brother and his older sister. The children were allowed contact with the mother, a drug addict, from time to time. We met the young girl, who was a delight and seemed remarkably well-adjusted. However, visits to the mother ceased abruptly, thanks to the chance discovery of a memory card, found in a backpack in a short-term rental property. It was handed to police and found to contain images of the children taking part in group sex sessions, including one on the girl’s 7th birthday. She was sometimes drugged during these events and was brought up to believe that such behaviour was normal. Her brother was also involved. Thanks to the images on the card, the adults were taken into custody, and a number of homes in the Perth area were raided. The woman and her partner have now been sentenced to 26 and 28 years jail for sexual offences against their children. What is scary is that it was a chance event that led to the arrest. Otherwise, it might never have come to light. What a despicable couple. They’ll be in their late 60s before being eligible for parole. The photo is of a native wisteria or hardenbergia

@JudyEv That is so terrible that those children had to suffer. I am glad they were caught and others as well. Too bad they do not just keep them in jail the rest of their lives.

I think so too. They don't deserve to be let out.

@JudyEv No they do not because we know they will go back to do it again and they do not deserve to live amongst us. They are very sick.

Hopefully they'll die in jail. They don't deserve anything else.

And it was only by chance - but at least they are now behind bars.
